
Mines and Petroleum Minister Inspects TAPI Pipeline Progress in Herat
The Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Mawlawi Hidayatullah Badri, recently visited the construction site of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India natural gas pipeline in Herat province to assess ongoing work. During the inspection, officials reported that 44 kilometers of the pipeline have been successfully completed, while an additional 124 kilometers of the route have been prepared for the next phase of construction.
Ministry spokesperson Humayun Afghan confirmed the progress metrics, noting that work on the project has accelerated in recent months. The pipeline is designed to transport natural gas from Turkmenistan across Afghan territory before continuing into Pakistan and onward to India.
Following the site visit, Minister Badri emphasized the strategic importance of the infrastructure project for the country’s development. He stated that the pipeline’s completion will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, generate employment opportunities for local communities, and strengthen regional cooperation. The minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction and directed relevant authorities to maintain current operational standards.
Afghan authorities have consistently highlighted the project’s potential to integrate the national economy into broader regional trade networks while providing a stable revenue stream. Officials indicated that continued oversight and technical coordination will remain priorities as construction advances through the prepared sections of the route.
