Kandahar Authorities Intercept Smuggling of 70 Water Buffaloes from Pakistan
Officials in Kandahar province have intercepted a shipment of 70 water buffaloes being smuggled from Pakistan into Afghanistan. The seizure took place in Spin Boldak district along the Durand Line, according to a statement from the provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.
The department reported that the animals were being transported across the border in three vehicles before security personnel intervened. The suspects involved in the smuggling operation were taken into custody. Officials stated that legal proceedings against the detained individuals will commence following a formal court decision.
This incident marks the second such interception in the Spin Boldak area within a matter of days. A few days prior, provincial authorities reported seizing 86 animals in the same district under similar circumstances. The Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has not yet released further details regarding the intended destination of the livestock or the specific charges to be filed.
Provincial authorities have emphasized ongoing efforts to monitor cross-border movements and enforce regulations regarding the unauthorized transport of livestock. Agricultural and security agencies in Kandahar continue to coordinate patrols along the border to prevent similar smuggling operations.
