
Islamic Emirate Foreign Minister and Russian Envoy Discuss Bilateral Cooperation
Amir Khan Muttaqi, foreign minister of the Islamic Emirate, met with Zamir Kabulov, special representative of the Russian president, to discuss the expansion of bilateral political and economic relations. The meeting focused on strengthening diplomatic engagement and activating established frameworks for joint cooperation between Kabul and Moscow.
During the discussions, officials outlined plans to establish regular political consultations and reactivate the joint economic commission. Kabulov stated that Russia is prepared to broaden economic cooperation with Afghanistan, specifically highlighting opportunities in trade, energy, transit, and infrastructure development. Both sides agreed that expanding these sectors would support long-term economic growth and align with mutual strategic interests.
The two officials also addressed regional security and stability, emphasizing the importance of constructive engagement with neighboring countries. They noted that sustained diplomatic coordination and economic integration are essential for maintaining peace and fostering development across the broader region.
The Islamic Emirate’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the meeting and released a statement outlining the official agenda. According to the ministry, both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral ties through structured dialogue and practical economic initiatives. The discussions reflect ongoing diplomatic efforts to deepen commercial and political relations between Afghanistan and Russia, with both sides viewing the engagement as a step toward sustained regional partnership.
