Emergency Hospital Says 27 Injured from Kabul Airstrikes Transferred to Center
KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- Emergency Hospital in Kabul reported that 27 injured adults, including one woman, were transferred to the facility following Pakistani airstrikes on the capital overnight. Two of the injured were in critical condition, officials said.
Dian Panic, head of Emergency programs in Afghanistan, confirmed that 27 patients were transferred, prompting activation of the mass casualty response. He said three arrived deceased. Panic noted one of the damaged sites was an addiction treatment center and stressed that medical centers must be respected in all circumstances.
Hospital officials told Amu TV that security conditions have worsened in recent months, with such attacks in Kabul unprecedented since the end of major conflicts in 2021. They cited a similar recent incident in which several injured, including women and children, were brought to the hospital.
Pakistani fighter jets carried out airstrikes and artillery strikes on parts of Kabul, Nangarhar and Kunar provinces, sources said. In Kabul alone, at least five explosions were reported: one at the addiction treatment center on Polcharkhi Road, one in the fifth security district, one at the Taliban Ministry of Defense ammunition depot and one at the military airfield.
The Taliban reported around 400 killed and more than 250 injured at the addiction treatment center alone, with casualty figures still rising.
